John R. Tschirch, Architectural Historian and Honorary Member, The Garden Club of America
Ernest Bowditch created landscapes from private estates in Newport, RI and communities such as Tuxedo Park to public park systems in Ohio. Working in both picturesque and formal traditions, Bowditch ably adapted to varied topographies and climates, producing master works of American landscape design. This illustrated lecture will explore the work of one of the true masters of Gilded Age landscapes in both the private and public spheres.
